This is my son,we adopted him when he was 22-months old in 2005. He was diagnosed ADHD when he was 6 yrs old. He was born drug & alcohol addicted from the biological mother. He was abused as a baby and parents lost custody, so we took him and his 3 year old sister in along with already raising 3 kids ourselves, their ages were 5, 7, & 9. We struggled raising 5 kids but we did it! Because of the ADHD, my son was extremely hyper and had a lot of energy. We did some research and found that wrestling would be good for him. Well, as it turns out, it was! He's on his 8th season and he's placed in states 7 out of 7 times and is a 1st place state and national champion wrestler. On March 12th he won a MMWA wrestling State title placing 1st in that tournament. Next week on March 31st & April 1st he is going on another State title for MYWA wrestling. Well, 4 years ago he started looking for something to do during his off season of wrestling and at 8 years old he Googled Jiu-Jitsu and asked if he could go try it out. I took him to a room and his 1st day he fell in love with it! Now, 4 years later in December, he asked me if I would fly to California with him because he wanted to compete in the largest tournament ever, in his eyes anyways, it was PanAm Kids Worlds Jiu-Jitsu tournament. Now, I don't fly, I'm afraid to, but he said if he was to raise the money for us to go, would I? I didn't think he would raise the money, so I humored him and said, yes I would go. Well, before you knew it, my 13 year old made a GOFUNDME account and raised some of the money and started contacting businesses in the area to Sponsor him, before you knew it, we had the money to go! I had to fly!!! Ugh!!! He said, "but mom, you don't understand, I feel it! I'm gonna win this tournament!" He went one match at a time and next thing you know it, HE WON!!! I couldn't believe it! A 13 year old kid, set out a goal and did it, he's a PanAm World Champion!!! We aren't rich, so I can't say w e will do this again, but he achieved what he set himself to do. I'm extremely proud of this kid! He's a go-getter! He's being trained in May for the Wrestling Junior Olympics. This kid is gonna go far! He carries good grade 3.0-3.5 all the time. Please consider my son, he so deserves this! Thanks for reading this
